Gay Pride scheduled in Baltic countries in 2009

In May 2009, gays from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will gather for the Friendship days in Riga. The gays in Baltic countries all suffer from intolerance of the mostly catholic population. Powerful religious authorities denigrate gays and are opposed to any forms of rights.
The Gay Pride went well this year. But police force was needed to avoid any incident with the big number of anti-gays opponents. The gays from Riga thus invited gays from the neighbouring Baltic States to join and celebrate the Gay Pride on the Friendship days.
