Hundreds of people participated in the parades organized in the 3 Indian cities where homosexuality remains illegal.
India, where homosexuality is still illegal, hosted its first Gay Prides. The parades gathered gays, lesbians and transexuals requesting that their sexuality be respected and that homosexuality stops being considered a act against nature punished with 10 years of prison.
The parade was a real success in the capital city New Delhi with more than 350 participants, twice more than expected. In Calcutta, more than 400 people attended the parade. The same in Bangalore.
Man participants chose to wear masks so as not to be recognized, although they were willing to participate in parades authorized by the authorities. |
